Åsa Maria Bengtsson, born in 1956 in Östersund, studied art at Forum School Graphics in Malmø. She lives in Malmø. Exhibitions included ICA, London; Museo de Arte Contemporàneo, Santiago di Chile; Künstlerhaus Bethanien, Berlin; Maison de la Culture Plateau Mont-Royal, Montreal; Pusan Metropolitan Museum. Jäsningen is a short drama about human identity. We create ideals and our ideals shape us, but who decides what the correct model is? The film is set in a clinic for the mentally disabled and deals with the transformation of the peer norm. Lead actor Pierre Bjorkman suffers from Down’s syndrome in real life.
