Valentina Lari, born in Florence, lives in London where she studied photography at Goldsmiths College. In 2012, she won the World Experiment Cinema Award at Amsterdam Film Festival. She participated in the Human Rights Nights Film Festival, Bologna. Exhibitions included Shoreditch\’s Town Hall, London; Guerilla Zoo, London; King’s College, London.

The Deformity of Beauty – A Last Dance with the Mütter Maidens is inspired by an essay by David Hume. It takes place among selected female anatomic specimens currently exhibited in the Mütter Museum of Anatomy in Philadelphia. The women’s stories are revealed by a beautiful young woman who becomes the witness to the secrets of these mysterious and somehow unfortunate medical marvels.
