Broken smartphone displays, crackling radio broadcasts, frozen images during a video call. Only when there is an interference our attention is being directed to the nature of the technical media that surround us every day without, however, it becoming the centre of attention.
\nAs one of the youngest and most unpredictable art forms, glitch art specifically draws attention to the aesthetics of the flawed. However, image and sound interferences do not stop at the cinema. As they were already used as an artistic stylistic device in analogue film art,\u00a0 the creative possibilities have expanded almost infinitely with the use of video-based and digital technologies. The film series “Switch to the Glitch!” shows four films from four decades in which the boundaries between reality and fiction are explored, disturbed and sometimes overcome in a variety of ways.
