The video and performance artist Kalup Linzy (born 1977 Florida, USA) stars, writes, and directs in humorous, often raunchy, satirical narratives that slyly upend cultural stereotypes of gender, race, class, and the American Dream. His characters, usually played by Linzy in stupendous drag, evoke both laughter and tears with their blatant, unrealistic lust for fame. The videos use a lowbudget, homemade quality conveying stripped down honesty underneath the wigs, makeup and dusty glitter.
